What is QuickReplace?

QuickReplace is a desktop application and developer library that allows you to perform "find and replace" operations with multiple different search and replacement terms simultaneously. This can be done on any number of text, document, or excel files all in one operation as well.

Some additional features include the ability to load the "find and replace" phrases from a file, edit them in the desktop app, and save them back to a file. Users also have the option to set custom styling that gets applied to the replacements, which can help in double checking your work or even highlighting things that should stand out. Our search and replace engine also allows you to give it additional instructions, such as whether to look for whole word or case sensitive matches, as well as to preserve the capitalization of the replacement that is being made.

All of these features are not only available for the QuickReplace desktop application, but are implemented in the developer library for .NET as well. Our story

QuickReplace was originally born in fall of 2022 as a simple productivity tool to perform lots of find and replaces on text files all at once. It started when Christian Norris, the founder of QuickReplace, walked in on his girlfriend editing legal document by going through a list of about 200 replacement terms and doing find and replacements by hand—using Ctrl+F for all 200 of them. That same day, Christian wrote a short python script with very basic UI for his girlfriend to use to save her a few hours at work every time she needed it.

This idea carried on for another year and a half, when Christian decided it was worth turning into a real product. Over the next few months QuickReplace was created, not only making it much faster than the original, but adding a myriad of features such as support for document/excel files, styling for the replacements, and additional search options like whole word and case sensitivity.

Now, QuickReplace is almost indistinguishable from what it had started as in 2022. Whether it is our desktop application or our developer API, QuickReplace has grown into a fast and easy-to-use that can save countless hours for any business that needs to make changes to text, document, or excel files.

In addition to this, QuickReplace is also built off of the Aho-Corasick algorithm, meaning that it is designed to be as fast as possible for performing many different text replacements at the same time on very large files. Finally, QuickReplace is well documented and heavily tested, ensuring that the developer experience is as smooth as possible.
